SAM.gov exclusion search
Search the exclusion records in SAM.gov, the federal System for Award Management, by name. Enter up to 25 people or companies, one per line. Results show the exclusion type and program for each possible match.
What SAM.gov exclusions are
SAM.gov holds the exclusion records of every federal agency: people and companies that are suspended, debarred or otherwise excluded from federal contracts, subcontracts and many kinds of federal financial assistance. It replaced the old Excluded Parties List System (EPLS), and it includes the exclusions OIG reports from health care.
Who checks it
Federal agencies must check SAM.gov before they award a contract. Prime contractors check their subcontractors, grant recipients check the parties they pay, and health care organizations often check it alongside the OIG list.
Confirming a match
Confirm a possible match on sam.gov, where each record shows the excluding agency, the dates and any cross-references to related names.
Questions
- Does a match mean the person or company is excluded?
- No. The check compares names only, and many people share a name. Treat every result as a possible match and confirm it on the official site with a date of birth, address, NPI or other identifier before acting on it.
- Do you store the names I search?
- No. Names are used to run the search and are not saved. If you ask for the full report, we keep your email address so we can send it.
- How current are the lists?
- Every result shows the date of the file it was checked against. We reload the OIG list each month after OIG publishes it, and the SAM.gov and OFAC lists each week.
