Data Center to AWS: Lift, Shift, and Refactor for a Financial Analytics Platform

The Challenge

Chaikin Analytics runs a financial analytics platform whose application infrastructure was hosted in a data center. The team needed to optimize that infrastructure, improve application performance, and keep downtime and disruptions under control while continuing to expand what the platform could do for its customers. Moving the application infrastructure to AWS was the next step, and it called for a lift, shift, and refactor rather than a straight copy of the data center. Chaikin wanted an application management partner for the long term, not a one-time migration contractor.

Our Solution

BeyondScale has worked with Chaikin Analytics for several years as its infrastructure and application management partner. Over that time we optimized the existing infrastructure, improved application performance, and expanded the platform's capabilities so Chaikin could better serve its customers. Proactive monitoring and rapid response to issues became the standing operating model, which kept downtime and disruptions under control.

Most recently, BeyondScale worked with Chaikin to lift, shift, and refactor the application infrastructure from the data center to AWS. Workloads were moved and then refactored to run on AWS, with the same proactive monitoring and rapid response coverage carried across into the new environment.
