Public-Records Search Platform for a US Screening Firm

The Challenge

Screening work depends on public records, and public records are spread across many registries with different formats and spellings. The client's team needed to search them quickly and still find the right person when a name was spelled differently from one source to the next.

Our Solution

BeyondScale built a search service on Elasticsearch with fuzzy name matching, so near matches are found and ranked instead of missed. Collection pipelines gather records from public registries on a schedule and feed them into the search index.

The whole environment is defined in Terraform, so it can be rebuilt from code at any time, and the service runs on AWS Lambda with PostgreSQL for application data.

Highlights

  • Search across millions of public records in under a second
  • Fuzzy name matching that handles spelling differences between sources
  • Scheduled collection pipelines from public registries
  • Environments rebuilt from Terraform on demand
  • Serverless deployment on AWS
